ABOUT
Breathing Room is a boutique Los Angeles based design firm. Interior designer Leslie Sachs founded the company in 1998. Leslie incorporates strong color combinations with an eclectic mix of furnishings in her work, while taking her artistic cues from the architecture of the space, as well as from her clients’ personality, taste, and lifestyle. With a love for Hollywood Regency and all things glamorous, Leslie enjoys expanding her clients’ imaginings into unexpected territory. Whether working with traditional or post modern design, her uncanny ability to solve spatial issues is always rooted in the philosophy of form following function.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Leslie always had an affinity for New York City and chose Sarah Lawrence College as her introduction to the East Coast. She transferred to California Institute of the Arts where she graduated with a BFA. Early in her career, Leslie’s knack for design led her to some of LA’s top catering companies, where she began her work as a food stylist. Soon after, she moved seamlessly into set design and fashion styling for commercials and print media.
While managing Breathing Room, Leslie refined her aesthetic instincts in the Interior Design Program at UCLA. Through word of mouth, Leslie began working with some of Hollywood’s top celebrities. She has worked as host/designer on several design shows including Area for the Style Network and Live Like A Star for Fox. In the fall of 2005, Leslie was invited to design a room for the House Beautiful Celebrity Showhouse in Brentwood California. Her colorful and functional design of the laundry room was one of the highlights of the Showhouse. When the home sold, the laundry room and family room were the only two rooms kept intact by the new owners.
Leslie’s designs have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, House Beautiful, Home, In Style Home, Angeleno, and Riviera.
